Mukesh Ambani’s grandson Prithvi Akash Ambani was seen with his mother Shloka Ambani on his first day of school in Mumbai today.
Prithvi is the son of Akash Ambani, Mukesh Ambani’s eldest son, and Shloka Mehta, who were married in 2019.
In visuals that were widely shared, the toddler was seen in the arms of his mother, who was picking him up from Sunflower School in Malabar Hill. Akash and Shloka Ambani studied in the same school, according to a statement.
Prithvi held a paper sunflower and his mother took him to the car. Both his parents accompanied him to school earlier and saw him off at the gates.
“Prithvi Ambani is going to be educated in India and therefore, sending him to where Akash and Shloka studied at Sunflower School in Malabar Hill was a unanimous call to ensure their youngest member gets a grounded, safe, secure but quality education and learning environment,” the statement said.
It said India’s richest family was “extremely determined” that Prithvi must “lead a normal life” and that his grandparents and parents had “gone out of the way to ensure the security staff is discrete”.
Like others in his class, Prithvi will start with half days “as a gentle introduction to school life”, said the statement.
The youngest Ambani’s first birthday in December was celebrated in a grand party, complete with a teddy bear-themed cake and gifts in “Prince Prithvi” gift-wrapping paper.
Prithvi Ambani was born on December 10, 2020.
Making the announcement, the Ambanis said: “With the grace and blessings of Lord Krishna, Shloka and Akash Ambani became proud parents of a baby boy today in Mumbai. Nita and Mukesh Ambani are delighted to become grandparents for the first time, as they welcomed the great-grandson of Dhirubhai and Kokilaben Ambani… The new arrival has brought immense joy to the entire Mehta and Ambani families.”
Mukesh Ambani had also referred to his grandson at a virtual meeting of Reliance last year. “Prithvi is the newest member of our family. Over the last year, he has brought boundless joy to our lives. I am sure all parents and grandparents amongst you have experienced the same joy,” he had said.
